Awards
- Best young researcher's presentation at HYDROFRAC2014: In July 2014 at the HYDROFRAC2014 conference, Monika Perkowska (AU, UK) and Ewa Rejwer (RUT, Poland) were awarded for best presentation about theoretical aspect of hydrofracturing (ex aequo) among PhD students, while Dawid Jaworski (RUT, Poland), Piotr Kuśmierczyk (AU, UK), Daniel Peck (AU, UK) got the 2nd prize.
- SET for Britain: Early in 2015 Miss Monika Perkowska was selected to present her research on hydraulic fracturing to members of Parliament at SET for Britain.
- ESMC 2015 Young Researcher Award: Miss Monika Perkowska received one of the two Young Researcher Awards at the 9th European Solid Mechanics Conference in July 2015 in Madrid.
- Best paper at the First Summer School on Micromechanics: Mr Daniel Peck was awarded the first prize in paper competition at the First Summer School on Micromechanics held in Bezmiechowa, Poland on June 3-13, 2015.
Academic achievements
- In April 2012, Professor Gennady Mishuris received the highest academic degree in Poland from the Polish president, Bronislaw Komorowski.
- In March 2014, Professor Gennady Mishuris was elected as one of the Fellows of the Learned Society of Wales.
- On May 27, 2015 Ms Ewa Rejwer from Rzeszow University of Technology defended with distinction her PhD thesis entitled "Szybka wielobiegunowa metoda elementów brzegowych zmiennej zespolonej w analizie ośrodków silnie niejednorodnych" ("Application of the complex variable fast multipole boundary element method for the analysis of strongly inhomogeneous media").
- On June 6, 2015 Mr Piotr Kusmierczyk had his viva and successfully defended his PhD thesis "Numerical Simulation of Hydraulic Fractures" at Aberystwyth University.
- In February 2020, Dr Liliana Rybarska-Rusinek was awarded the decree of Doctor of Science in area of Mechanical Sciences with her thesis entitled "Complex variable Fast Multipole Method for solving problems in inhomogeneous media using BEM".
- On March 9, 2016, Ms Monika Perkowska had successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled "Mathematical and numerical modeling of hydraulic fractures for non-Newtonian fluids" at Aberystwyth University.
- On May 1, 2018, Mr Daniel Peck was awarded PhD degree for his thesis entitled "Axisymmetric Problems Involving Fractures with Moving Boundaries".
- On September 15 2020, Mr Gaspare Da Fies had successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled: "Effective time-space adaptive algorithm for hydraulic fracturing".
Publications
- During September 2014, the article "Boundary integral formulation for cracks at imperfect interfaces" by G.Mishuris, A.Piccolroaz and A.Vellender was the 5th most read article of The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics.
- The article "Hydraulic fracture revisited: Particle velocity based simulation" by Dr M.Wrobel and Prof. G.Mishuris topped the list of most downloaded articles from International Journal of Engineering Science.
