Nataliia Adukova Represents Aberystwyth University at STEM for Britain 2025

In March 2025, Miss Nataliia Adukova, a PhD student at Aberystwyth University, presented her research at the prestigious STEM for Britain competition, held at the Houses of Parliament in London. Her poster, titled The Exact Factorisation of Matrix Polynomials, showcased joint work with Professor Gennady Mishuris and was entered in the Mathematical Sciences section.

Nataliia had the opportunity to discuss her research with judges, fellow researchers, and Members of Parliament. She was particularly pleased to meet her local MP, Ben Lake, who expressed great admiration for both the clarity of her presentation on such complex mathematical concepts and her knowledge of the Welsh language. She also had an engaging conversation with the Director of the Isaac Newton Institute, Professor Ulrike Tillmann, who showed keen interest in her work and spent considerable time discussing the poster with her.

Nataliia was proud to represent both her field and Aberystwyth University and regarded her participation as a rewarding and enriching experience. Presenting her work at the event gave her a valuable opportunity to make advanced mathematics accessible and relevant to a diverse audience, including MPs and senior scientists.
